It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
